Italeri IT3975 1/24_V Ford Transit
The Transit is the name of a line of light commercial vehicles produced by Ford/Germany and Ford/Great Britain starting in 1953 for the European market. The real turning point was represented by the “Second Series” Transit introduced to the market in 1965. The vehicle’s configuration, characterized by a front-mounted engine, wide track, and low loading floor, was ideal for optimizing transport activities. The Transit was also available—an innovation for its time—in a huge number of versions and configurations, ranging from the panel van to the chassis cab with flatbed and the minibus. A true partner for craftsmen, small businesses, and large companies throughout Europe that needed to meet short-range commercial mobility requirements. Italeri also used Ford Transit vehicles to deliver a special product: their scale model kits.
The Ford Transit is a commercial vehicle that was first presented to the public in 1965. Its series production started in the same year and is continued, therefore it has been going on for over 50 years! In the course of serial production, this type of car was manufactured in several cities around the world, including Amsterdam, Genk in Belgium or Kocaeli in Turkey.
The Transit model was developed and put into production to replace the Thames and Taunus Transit models in the Ford Motor Company offer. Compared to its predecessors, especially from the Taunus Transit, the new model differed very clearly in body style, it also offered a much wider range of engines and was more elaborate mechanically. The car was a huge market success due to its reliability, good traction properties and relatively low operating costs for this class of cars. This determined its further production and model development. The latest generation was presented in 2013 at the North American Motor Show in Detroit.
