The LMV Lince light multirole tactical vehicle was developed by the Italian company Iveco Defence Vehicles in the early 2000s to meet the need for a new-generation light armored vehicle for troop transport and advanced reconnaissance, capable of operating on any type of terrain and in all operational conditions. It is still considered today one of the most successful light tactical vehicles in its category, capable of offering a good level of protection against small-arms fire and shrapnel. The Lince’s crew compartment is designed as an armored “capsule” independent from the chassis, a solution that improves crew protection in the event of explosions beneath the hull. The Lince has been deployed in numerous operational theaters, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, and the Balkans.
The Iveco LMV (designated as LMV Lince in the Italian army) is a contemporary Italian military off-road vehicle. The first copies of this vehicle appeared in the 1990s. Serial production started in 2001 and is still going on. The drive is provided by a single motor Iveco F1D Common Rail EURO 3 182 hp. The price of a single car is estimated at approx. PLN 400,000. euro by 2014 prices.
LMV (Light Multipol Vehicle) was established on the initiative of Iveco, but relatively quickly gained the interest of the Italian army and armed forces of other countries. It is a four-wheeled, lightweight, multi-purpose all-terrain vehicle that provides protection against small-caliber firearms with a caliber of up to 14.5 mm and artillery fragments. It also has a V-shaped hull bottom, increasing the survival chances of the crew after hitting a mine or the so-called fugasa. The car can take up to 7 passengers on board. The vehicle in the British Army is used under the designation Panther CLV. It is modernized by BAE Systems for this operator. Apart from Great Britain, users of Iveco LMV include: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Norway and Italy.
